Roman Nasirov: Ukraine is ready to join agreement on the exchange of tax information
The issue of international cooperation in tax and customs fields was the key topic of negotiations between the Head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine Roman Nasirov and Director General of Tax and Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance of Austria Mr. Hans-Georg Kramer, which held on April 28 in Vienna (Austria).
During the meeting the parties discussed mechanisms for fighting against tax evasion, in particular the necessity to improve control of offshore schemes. Roman Nasirov said that Ukraine is ready to join efforts with the international community to act against the shadow economy.
«Determination of the final beneficiaries of offshore companies is strategically important for Ukraine. We are ready to join the agreement between the countries on the automatic exchange of tax information», - said the head of SFS.
He said that Ukraine's accession to the international information exchange system will allow DFS to obtain data from other countries about foreign offshore companies and Ukrainian residents, opened there the accounts, and to detect violations of Ukrainian tax legislation.
Also Roman Nasirov and Mr. Hans-Georg Kramer expressed mutual interest in continued cooperation between Ukraine and Austria in the tax area. «Given the fact that Ukraine and Austria are members of the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters, the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine hopes to establish in the future really strong international legal interaction between the tax authorities of our countries in the field of tax information exchange», - said Roman Nasirov.
Another important issue that is discussed is reforming the customs service. Austrian colleagues working in the same direction as the DFS of Ukraine: simplify registration and speed up the movement of import, export and transit.
